Peperomia Piccolo Banda

Peperomia Piccolo Banda is distinguished by its thick, pale silvery-green leaves with dark green, sometimes purple tinged, heavy veining running in multiple bands down their length. Stems are a fleshy, succulent red. Green spikes of tiny flowers appear on long, thin, red stalks and waft tantalisingly above the plant. Definitely an eye-catching crowd pleaser.

Radiator Plants are very much on trend, they are easy to look after and look great displayed on desks or small tables. They adapt well to low light levels, making them great for the office or a shady corner.

Horty Hints

Brighter isn’t always better! If the light is too bright, the deep green coloured foliage will fade. Move to a more shaded location to maintain bold markings.

Keep it together! If this patterned plant has grown too long and leggy, distorting its compact shape, it is reaching for the sunlight. Try moving to a brighter location.

How much is too much? Peperomia plants are sensitive to overwatering. Too wet and it will rot, too dry and it will die. When the soil has nearly dried out, give it a little drink.

Light

Peperomia are fine in moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. Ideal for the office or a basement flat as they do well under fluorescent lights.

Watering

Water when the soil has almost dried out. Do not overwater. Use soft water if possible and water from below. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant.

Temperature

This plant prefers average to warm temperatures from 18-24°C but can cope with as low as 10°C at a push. Avoid cold draughts.

Humidity

Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but do just fine in normal household conditions. Mist occasionally for an added boost.

Feed

Apply a half-strength balanced fertiliser once or twice during the growing season.

The Piccolo Banda is a slow-growing plant and typically reaches an ultimate height of around 20 to 30cm – plus flower spikes.
